Mommy Moments, I Must Confess

It's been a while since my sister and I have done a post that wasn't recipe, diy, or reflecting on our summer moments related. I'm jumping on here to open up about some recent mommy moments. It's hard to believe that little man is 11 months! In a few short weeks I'll have a one year old. How did that happen? I truly love every moment with him, even the tantrums. Yes, the tantrums have started and while some I have a hard time keeping a straight face because it's so obvious they're fake (that probably sounds really bad) others I'm looking at my husband puzzled and we both try to find the best way to diffuse the situation. They are always resolved and usually sooner than later, but my word, if we try and take the remote away from him, he will definitely let us know that it has become his favorite toy. Here are some mommy moments, funny experiences and new journey's we are venturing on.

I secretly wish he enjoyed the pack n play. It would make things so much easier but he just isn't having it. This little guy is too curious and wants to be on the move.

If I could start potty training him now I would. Changing his diaper has become a huge struggle. All he wants to do is roll around.

I'm starting to wean him. While I am looking forward to having a little more freedom for myself, I know I am going to miss that special time with him.

Teething hasn't been as bad as we thought, but, he does put everything in his mouth! The other day we caught him with the insole to my husband's shoe in his mouth! Uhhh, yuck!

Speaking of teeth, he has six and counting that we forgot need to be brushed until someone brought this to our attention. We are now working that into our routine.

I'm looking forward to packing a normal school lunch. Getting all of his bottles, food, snacks and everything in between ready for daycare each night is so time consuming.

This little guy just has way too much hair and there was no way we could hold out until his first birthday to cut his luscious locks.

I'm convinced that he has more rhythm than a saxophone player at a blues concert. When ever he hears a beat he drops it like it's hot.

I love that he lights up now when he sees my husband and I pick him up at the end of the day. While I hate to see him upset sometimes when I drop him off in the morning, I love the extra big hug he gives me and to feel him hold on to me for a few more minutes.

Watching him learn and grow is the most rewarding thing. He is doing something new almost every day.

I absolutely love shopping for clothes for him and so happy little boys clothes have improved and they aren't so gag gag baby anymore.

I am excited to see him grow and gain more independence, but at the same time I wish I could freeze this time and keep him small forever.

I am a little nervous about making the transition over to regular milk. I've heard it's not the easiest and to try mixing it with breast milk, warm it up, and be prepared for him not to like it. Any suggestions you can provide?

  2. Your son is absolutely adorable! My son just turned 13 months, so they are very close in age. We are going through the same things! I'm still nursing my son, but I think I'm going to start to wean him. He is down to twice a day, so I don't think it'll be too difficult. I'm just feeling torn about the whole thing for some reason. My doctor just said to make sure he gets three servings of diary a day. It could be milk, cheese, yogurt or whatever.

    1. Thank you! That's awesome your son is 13 months and you are still nursing, way to go! I completely understand you feeling torn, as am I, but I do think it's time for me. Not to mention my little guy just keeps getting more teeth. Great suggestions with the other dairy products! Thank you for stopping by :)

  3. Congratulations on 13 months of breastfeeding! We're still going here at nearly 17 months, but I totally get the not wanting the special time and resourcefulness of it all to end either. Sometimes I really want my body back, even if just for a little while, but then I really don't know what I'd do if I did have it back. Besides, for us, it's still the easiest and best way to comfort him.

The growing up - I wonder if the beauty is that we simultaneously want and don't want it all at once! :)

    Swinging by from Mommy Monday!

    1. 17 months that's great! What an accomplishment. It's definitely a catch 22 and a hard decision to make. Thank you so much for stopping by :)

  4. What a cutie, he does have a lot of hair! :) I don't know if you've introduced a sippy cup yet, but you might try introducing milk in that for one meal a day and work your way up. Visiting you from the Mommy Moments link up.

    1. Thank you! We are thinking it might even be time for another cut soon. I have a feeling he's going to be one of those boys that needs a hair cut every few weeks. We are trying out different sippy cups, haven't found one that we love yet, but that is a great recommendation with trying the milk in that. Thank you for visiting :)

    1. Thank you! It's definitely tough! Sad to admit, we aren't doing it all the time yet. Only those nights we seem to remember.

I didn't have any problems with my girls liking regular milk. If you need to, you can slowly introduce the milk to him. But I'm sure you won't have any problems.

    1. Glad to hear you didn't have any problems with your girls liking regular milk. I guess every child is different. I am hoping he won't have a problem either.

  7. Thank you for your post! It was fantastic to walk through those milestones with you, while remembering similar moments with each of my five children. I have two suggestions -- the first is about teeth brushing. I've found my infants love to just chew on a toothbrush. So, while I'm brushing mine (or another child's) I just give the baby a toothbrush to chew on. I watch the baby closely, to make sure no gaging happens, of course. And the second is about milk -- I've found that my children like it better if I wait until they are a little older, about 18 months, before I completely switch over to it. Their tummies seem better able to handle the very different and complex fats in cow milk at that time.
Anyway, thanks for your post and enjoy your little one!

    1. Hi Deborah! Thank you for reading and I'm glad it took you down memory lane. Five children, that's great! I am the oldest of five children, yay for big families! Thank you for the suggestions. He will probably like chewing on the toothbrush as well since he is still teething. Great suggestion with the milk. We will try the introduction in the next few weeks and if he is not ready than we will look to wait a little longer. Thank you so much for stopping by we hope to see you again :)

  8. I love this post so much... I'm already dreading the days when I have to wean E... I always thought people were dumb when they talked about loving breastfeeding, but it seriously is such a special bonding time between you and your baby! I totally get it now. :)

Thank y'all for linking up with me and Logan!

    1. I used to think the same way! Now it's a lot tougher than I would have ever thought. I think at this point I might still continue a morning and before bed feeding but it's tough to decided when is the right time to stop.

  10. Thank you so much for your post; I'm stopping by as one of the hosts from Turn It Up Tuesday. I felt like I was reliving my memories reading yours. He'll stop rolling soon on the changing table if he's anything like mine. She went through a phase of rolling but now lays there and talks and sings to me instead.

And exactly what you said with the milk...I mixed a little at a time (so first day was 1 oz regular milk, 7 oz breastmilk) until it was all regular milk.

    1. Hi Meghan, thank you for stopping by! We are hoping the rolling stops soon, it's such a challenge. Great suggestion with adding more breast milk than regular milk to start.
