Oh, it's Friday again already?! That's how I kind of feel this week. It flew by for me. Which is kind of a good thing but a bad thing too. I'll explain why...it's exactly one week until I (little nugget's) first birthday. First birthday! I don't know if I'm ready for this. I'm still wrapping my head around him almost being a year and managing two little nuggets.
My Friday favorites will be a little different this week. I usually highlight my favorite things I did, or we did as a family, but coming off of traveling and having reality hit that his party is next weekend, I'm switching it up a bit. I was basically swimming in laundry and we all know how laundry and I don't get along. I also spent some time working on diy and party things. Not exactly the most eventful week but a nice week to say the least.
1. Chicago: it's hard to believe this time last week I was having an awesome time in Chicago with my brother and sister. Eric did an amazing job at home with the nuggets and I think they might've had more fun without me. Nah, they definitely missed me :) But if you missed my recap about my trip you can read all about it {here}.
2. Donuts: I heard several people raving about this donut shop and decided I needed to taste one for myself to relate to the craze. Luckily for me I don't pass it often or this could become a problem. I'm sure my wallet and my already expanding hips (child birth problems) would not be happy with me.
Their artisan donuts were delicious but because of the density of them and not having the traditional hole in the middle, they seemed more like a cake to me. They still have traditional donuts that were great too.

3. Birthday inspiration: like I mentioned it's one week until I's birthday so I am full fledged into finishing up some last minute things for his nautical pool party. I'm trying to keep it a blue and white color scheme and more of a vintage nautical feel. Everything I'm coming across is red, white, and blue, and to me that just feels patriotic. Here is some of my inspiration...
I ordered these vintage cupcake toppers from etsy and love how they came out! John was great to work with and customized them for me switching out the red flag for a navy blue one. I can't wait to see how it all comes together.
4. Summer salad: speaking of party, I'm finalizing the menu and know that some sort of pasta salad will be present. I was looking for some different recipes other than what I usually make and came across this great list!
I'm thinking of maybe doing two because it's hard to narrow them down. I'm leaning towards the Strawberry Caprese Pasta Salad and the Broccoli Pasta Salad. What are your favorites to see at a party?
5. Commenting: so I feel kind of stupid you guys. This whole time I never realized that Disqus which is the platform I use for my commenting wasn't showing up when someone views my blog in mobile view. Just personal preference, but I find it easier to read blogs still in web version even when I'm on my phone, so I never really check my blog in mobile view. But after doing some research it turns out a lot of you are reading along in mobile view.
Thankfully it was an easy fix. If you use Disqus check out these steps to turn on your mobile view. Or you probably figured this out way before I did.
