Happy Friday! I really think Friday is one of the days I'm in one the best moods. It just has this way of making the whole day feel great even if half of it is spent at work. This week was a short work week for me since I took off on Monday and even better yet, I took of this upcoming Monday and Thursday as well. We have some fun fall activities planned with the nuggets that I'm looking forward to. I'm hoping to get a family friendly activity list together to share with all of you next week.
Here's a look at some of my favorites from this week...
1. A's Birthday: It's hard to believe we have a three year old. We could have never imagined what the first three years of parenting would have looked like, but this little guy has far exceeded our expectations. Watching him grow has been one of our greatest joys and we thank God for him everyday.
His party turned out to be a lot of fun and everyone had a good time. The place worked with us and threw in some extras to make his day even more fun. Overall it all worked out and we had one happy birthday boy. Of course we couldn't get a picture with all of us looking in the same direction and his bff was about to dig into his cake, but this is funnier to me than a "perfect" picture. We definitely have a few we will be looking back at and laughing.
2. Apple picking: one of my favorite traditions we've be doing for the past few years is going apple and pumpkin picking for A's birthday. If you follow me on instagram you might have seen some of our insta stories from the day. You can read about our apple picking adventures {here}.
3. Girls day: like I mentioned before, I took off on Monday. Oh what I wouldn't give to have off every Monday. My mom also had off so we treated ourselves to a much needed manicure and pedicure. I am in love with the color I picked and have been getting so many compliments on it. It really is a great color for fall.
4. Dinner time: I also got to enjoy a kid free dinner out which was a nice little break. Not that eating with the nuggets isn't enjoyable, but you know, I didn't have to dodge any flying food or worry about if I sat in apple sauce or not (true story).
We ate at Despana in Princeton and since the rain finally let up and we got to see blue skies again we took full advantage of eating outside on the terrace. We enjoyed some yummy croquetas and tasty paella. While the paella wasn't bad by any means, I've had better. I also like to be able to take leftovers home with me and this really wasn't a big portion compared to others I've had. Overall it was still very good and I would visit again.
5. Sunnies: I decided to take the plunge and bought a pair (well actually two) of Karen Walker glasses. I just love the way they look on everyone else. This year I didn't splurge on glasses and kept to my target and $12 Nordstrom glasses (nothing wrong with that). But I hit a sale and the industry I work in provided me an extra discount so I was sold. I had a hard time deciding which pair to keep but after a unanimous vote {this} pair seems to be the keeper. I also loved {these} and really contemplated keeping both but here are my thoughts...
The solid large plastic frames (on the right) which were fabulous in general, where really big. That was one of the reasons I got them though, so the size wasn't a factor for me. After wearing them around for a little while and comparing them to some of my other cheaper plastic frames that I already had, I really didn't see a huge difference (don't kill me for saying that). The more I thought about it, if I'm going to pay a decent amount for glasses I want them to have a little something extra to them. That's mainly why I went with {these}. The gold accent and the arrows on them had that extra detail I was looking for. The name also felt fitting for this time of year, harvest sunglasses. What do you think?!
I hope everyone has a great weekend and for those off on Monday have a fun long weekend! Check out my favorite girls that I'm linking with and join in on the fun.
