The sound of the waves crashing, palm tress blowing, and a tropical cocktail are calling my name. I have been anxiously awaiting our upcoming vacation. It couldn't be coming at a better time for us. We have so much going on in our little lives (I'll be sharing more about that soon) that this vacation will be just what we need.
It's also our first vacation as a family of four (we really say 5 because our dog is definitely my baby) so there is a lot of excitement happening all around. Although, I'm probably going to have to take my own advice about packing for the beach with a toddler and a baby. Hopefully I'll have some more tips to share now that we have more than one little nugget traveling.
This will be our third time heading to the Dominican. It holds a special place in our hearts because that's where we got engaged. We are staying at a family friendly resort with lots of activities for the nuggets. I'll be sure to share a recap of our adventure in the next few weeks.
Now let's talk beachwear! I decided this year I was breaking out of my comfort zone for swimwear. I usually stick to the same basic two piece with detachable straps (I'm not a big fan of tan lines) and keep it at that. This year I'm going with several different styles and will be incorporating one pieces, two pieces, and some patterns and colors I wouldn't normally wear. Hey, might as well live a little, right?
I also branched out a bit with my footwear. I'm loving these fringe sandals I got and these perfect summer espadrilles (Saks now has free shipping on their website, I hate paying for shipping!) I figured the espadrilles would come in handy if we go on any excursions. I read reviews on them beforehand and decided to go with the suggestions and ordered a size up. I'm glad I did because it all worked out, and I love the little pineapple on the front of them.
I love this long floral kimono I got and can just envision it looking great with a tan. I also went with a Rebecca Minkoff tote {mine, pictured above sold out, but similar here} that I'll be using as a beach bag. I wanted something a little more durable and versatile since I'm taking packing into consideration. And what summer look isn't complete without a great pair of shades and hat. Although, packing hats has not been my specialty. Any suggestions on helping to avoid them from losing their shape?
